THE PUBLICATION / EDITORIAL NOTE

Every record
has a reason.

The Aeon Herald brings the real world into view, and leaves a window open onto Synclexia.

A publication between worlds

The Herald is an interactive fiction and news discovery experience from Synclexia. Its original characters, bylines, historical reports and mysteries belong to that fictional universe. Real-world dispatches are attributed to external sources, keep their source links, and are identified by their source. Unsaved headlines open the publisher directly; saved records and Herald originals have a page here.

Read the source

Live headlines arrive through BBC, Global Voices and NASA RSS feeds, the free GDELT DOC API, and the USGS GeoJSON feed. Local headlines are indexed through Google News RSS, with links onward to the original publishers. Feed-provided thumbnails are credited to their sources; we do not scrape publisher article pages. Live headlines link directly to the publisher. Saving retains a source record, an available thumbnail, and editorial notes; the full publisher report is not automatically copied. Saved pages retain their original source link. GDELT dates show when a report was indexed; USGS dates show the observation time. Neither an index time nor a fictional story date should be mistaken for a real publisher's publication time.

The archive

Some records are free. Others have been unlocked through an unnamed contributor. Restricted catalog records are part of the narrative: a visible title does not imply a complete article exists behind it. Archive subscriptions are not currently sold, and this site does not collect payments. New records and public releases appear as the story develops.

Your privacy

This publication does not run advertising or analytics trackers. It uses the cookies required when you sign in to the newsroom. Reading links at another publisher takes you to that publisher's site and privacy practices. Fonts and publication assets are served locally. There is no public registration. Discussion forms request a display name and comment, with no email address. Approved names and comments are public. WordPress retains technical submission details for moderation. New comments are reviewed before publication and require a secure connection. Your chosen regional edition is stored in this browser. Automatic region selection approximates a city from the browser time zone and defaults to Los Angeles; it does not use GPS or IP geolocation. Weather forecasts are provided by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute through a server cache, under CC BY 4.0. Temperatures may be converted and rounded for display. Thumbnail requests go to the credited image host without a referrer.
